Entangling a series of trapped ions by moving cavity bus

Entangling multiple qubits is one of the central tasks for quantum information processings. Here, we propose an approach to entangle a number of cold ions (individually trapped in a string of microtraps) by a moved cavity. The cavity is pushed to include the ions one by one with an uniform velocity, and thus the information stored in former ions could be transferred to the latter ones by such a moving cavity bus. Since the positions of the trapped ions are precisely located, the strengths and durations of the ion-cavity interactions can be exactly controlled. As a consequence, by properly setting the relevant parameters typical multi-ion entangled states, e.g., WW state for 10 ions, could be deterministically generated. The feasibility of the proposal is also discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, 1 tabl

Purchasing Motivations Toward Counterfeit Luxury Goods on E-marketplaces

    Get PDF
This research is designed to study consumers’ purchasing attitudes to counterfeit luxury goods on electronic marketplaces (e-marketplaces). And two research hypotheses are proposed in this research. Based on data analysis of 243 samples, this study explores the dimensions of consumer attitudes (morality and law, accessibility, burden-bearing, function effectiveness, economical efficiency) and motivations (conspicuous psychology, rebel psychology, social identity, self-enjoying and cost performance) to luxury counterfeit goods on e-marketplaces. It is found that the major reasons for consumers to choose e-business channels to buy luxury counterfeits are convenience, information acquisition, product and service. In particular, the findings indicate that online consumers’ attitudes toward luxury counterfeit products significantly impact purchasing motivation; online consumers’ attitudes and motivations positively impact purchasing intention

Droplet preferential concentration in homogeneous and isotropic turbulence

    No full text
In particle-laden turbulent flow, it has been found both experimentally and numerically that when the particle response time is similar to a turbulent characteristic timescale, particles tend to preferentially concentrate and form clusters. This phenomenon of non-uniform particle dispersion has been referred as preferential concentration. The thesis studies experimentally the preferential concentration of poly-dispersed droplets in homogeneous and isotropic turbulence generated in the facility referred to as the `box of turbulence' and includes comparisons with Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). It discusses the effect of poly-dispersion on droplet preferential concentration, temporal evolution of droplet clustering and the turbulent mechanisms (i.e. topological turbulent flow patterns) that may be responsible for the droplet clustering dynamics. The thesis is structured into six chapters. Motivations, theoretical background and related literature of this work are discussed in Chapter 1. Chapter 2 describes the experimental setup and the applied laser diagnostic techniques. Chapter 3 focuses on the effect of poly-dispersion on droplet preferential concentration. The techniques used in quantifying the preferential concentration are the Radial Distribution Function (RDF) and Voronoï analysis. An image processing method for locating droplets from droplet Mie-scattering images has been proposed and evaluated. Chapter 4 reports the time-resolved dispersion measurements of poly-dispersed droplets. The fine scale topological turbulent patterns (i.e. zero velocity/acceleration) are extracted from the fluid flow velocity measurements, considering the effect of experimental noise, and are observed to follow a non-uniform spatial distribution and form clusters. The clustering of zero velocity/acceleration points are quantified by RDF and Voronoï analysis and compared with the dispersed droplet clusters. A cluster identification method based on the mean shift pattern space analysis and the Voronoï tessellation has been proposed and applied to all the temporally resolved images to obtain cluster time scale and length scale statistics. Chapter 5 compares the results from experiments and corresponding DNS calculations using the same data processing methods. The clustering of experimentally and numerically acquired zero velocity/acceleration points and dispersed droplets are quantified and compared. Chapter 6 is the conclusion of the thesis and possible directions of future work.Open Acces

Identifying User Suggestions from Mobile App Reviews

    Get PDF
The last few years have seen enormous growth in the use of mobile devices. This growth has fueled the development of software applications, often called apps. Mobile app developers constantly collect and analyze feedback in user reviews with the goal of improving their apps and better meeting user expectations. Due to high volume of data, manually reading user comments requires a labor-intensive effort. In this paper, we propose a framework for automatically identifying user suggestions from reviews, the information of which can be useful for next app release. Our approach uses a deep learning model with attention mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed architecture outperforms the baseline methods.Master of Science in Information Scienc

Antioxidant activities of protein hydrolysates obtained from the housefly larvae

    Get PDF
The housefly is an important resource insect and the housefly larvae are ideal source of food additives. The housefly larvae protein hydrolysates were obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis by alcalase and neutral proteinase. Their antioxidant activities were investigated, including the superoxide and hydroxyl radicalscavenging activity, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity, reducing power and metal chelating activity. The antioxidant activities of both hydrolysates increased with their increasing concentrations. The alcalase hydrolysate (AH) showed higher scavenging activities against hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical at low concentrations and higher metal-chelating activity than the neutral proteinase hydrolysate (NPH). The NPH exhibited higher scavenging activity against DPPH free radical and higher reducing power than the AH. Both hydrolysates showed more than 50% superoxide anion radical-scavenging activity at 10 μg/mL. These results indicate that both housefly larvae protein hydrolysates display high antioxidant activities and they could serve as potential natural antioxidant food additives
